Set back on a private road surrounded by tall trees, The Chalet is a three bedroom, three bathroom A-frame house in close proximity to all the main attractions of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. Perfect for a weekend getaway or an extended stay, and great for couples and families. The house has three levels, each with its own bedroom, bathroom and common area. Relax by the fire, sip your morning coffee on the deck, read a book in the loft, or take a walk in the woods.
The Property: As you come up the long driveway you'll know you have arrived. The Chalet is a classic A-frame house, with high ceilings, big windows and tons of natural wood finishes. The house sits on more than an acre of land, with ample parking, a yard surrounding the house, and adjacent wooded areas. Access the front door up a flight of stairs or use the separate ground-level entrance. There is a large covered porch and our wrap-around deck is ideal for star-gazing or taking in the natural surroundings.
Main Floor: The main floor includes a master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and dining area. The master bedroom has a wall-to-wall closet, a queen sized bed, and a large window with beautiful sunrises. The bathroom has a shower/bathtub and a large vanity. Towels, toilet paper and soaps are provided. The fully modernized kitchen has stainless steel appliances and all that you need to prepare meals (pots, pans, utensils, dishes, blender, Dutch over, cast iron skillet and more). For coffee lovers, choose from an auto-drip coffee maker, French press, or pour over, and we have both electric and hand-crank grinders. Bring your own coffee beans or sample ours. For wine enthusiasts, there is a wine fridge and rack. The kitchen also features a long counter with stool seating. The living room has floor to ceiling windows with seasonal mountain views in winter and beautiful woods in summer. Unwind on the leather sofa or in our large wingback chair, or cozy up to the fire on our brick hearth. The large wood dining table can seat up to 10 comfortably with extensions. We have a smart TV with streaming channels (HBO, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney +, and more). You can access the deck from the living room via a sliding glass door.
Upper Floor: Upstairs you’ll find a spacious loft with a sofa, side table, and a balcony that overlooks the living room and has great views of the property. It's perfect for reading, yoga, taking a nap, or just looking up through the skylights at the trees. Upstairs is also a bedroom and full bathroom with a shower and vanity. The bedroom has a queen size bed, ceiling fan, and windows with views of the yard and trees.
Lower Floor: The lower floor is a fully finished basement with natural wood paneling throughout, a bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area. The bedroom has a queen size bed, dresser, and bench. The recently renovated bathroom includes a large soaking tub with hand-held shower attachment, and glass bowl sink. The lower floor also has its own entrance, providing easy access to the driveway, fire pit, and the rest of the property. Please note that the basement tends to be 5 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. There is a separate heater in the bedroom that provides additional warmth in winter.
Additional amenities: Fire pit and firewood are available for your use. For families with small children, we have everything you need, including a Pack-n-Play, high chair, toddler bed, train table, toys, and child gates for the stairs.
Location: The Chalet is in West Saugerties, equidistant from Woodstock (10 minutes) and the Town of Saugerties (10 minutes). Kaaterskill falls is 20 minutes away. Hunter Mountain is 30 minutes. Hudson is 30 minutes to the north and New Paltz is 30 minutes to the south. The house is approximately 1 hour, 40 minutes from the George Washington Bridge in normal traffic. The nearest train station (Rhinecliff) is 25 minutes away.
Entry/Exit and Security: We have a coded keypad for easy self check-in, check-out. If you prefer to use a key, one can be provided upon arrival. The house has an alarm system that can be activated by request. There are two outdoor security cameras that provide broad views of the property but they will not be in operation during your stay. A house manager lives nearby and will be available in case of any issues or questions.
