Family Friendly Pool Retreat | Cottage in Moncks Corner

Located in the peaceful Pimlico Plantatio area of Monks Corner (30 minutes to Summerville or 40 minutes to downtown Charleston), this unit is on the ground floor of a two-story detached building. The hosts are on-site in the main house. We have two units that were recently lovingly remodeled.

The unit is freshly designed and decorated with a cozy, coastal theme and unique artwork. The bedroom has 2 queen beds and a large walk-in closet. A roll-away is available for a 5th guest. After a long day of exploring the area (or just lounging by the pool), you’ll enjoy resting and watching TV on 5-star luxury mattresses and bedding. Everything is plush, soft, and cozy.

The open concept living room/kitchen area includes a stocked efficiency kitchen with a full-sized fridge, sink, microwave, blender, a grill is located just steps frok your door.and Keurig coffee maker. The living area has a large velvet sectional, a wall-mounted TV, and games for the kids. Child locks inside the unit and a pool fence keep your kiddos safe.

1G wi-fi provides plenty of connectivity for two wall-mounted smart TVs and your devices.

Off the kitchen is a full bathroom, stylish and clean featuring a stone top vanity, double shower and fun beachy decor.

French doors open to the large, resort-style saltwater pool, featuring a spacious deck, grill, lounge chairs, dining area, patio lights, and firepit. The pool area is very private and cozy and shared with the hosts and any guests staying in the upstairs unit, if occupied.The pool is open year-round with temperatures depending on the season

For larger parties, this unit can be combined with the upstairs unit that sleeps up to an additional 5 (two queen beds plus roll-away).

Pimlico Plantatio n is located on the Cooper River in Moncks Corner. A short walk takes you to the community boat landing for gorgeous river views. There is also a small pond in the neighborhood for fishing or kayaking.

The historic district of Charleston is a 40-minute drive away, where you can enjoy amazing architecture, shopping, dining, museums, and tours. Note that if you want to be “near the beach”, we are about an hour to Isle of Palms and Folly Beach depending on time of day and beach traffic.

The quaint mainstreet of Summerville is an easy 30-minute drive away. Known as Flower Town in the Pines for its beautiful gardens and woodlands, Summerville is a small town with big charm. A charming spot with small-town coziness, Summerville offers a wide array of attractions and world-class cuisine

Throughout Summerville are beautiful parks and walking trails and the Colonial Dorchester Historic Site. Abandoned at the start of the Revolutionary War, the town of Dorchester has all but disappeared, leaving only a handful of original structures remaining. Visitors can stand below the towering remains of the brick bell tower of St. George’s Anglican Church, catch a glimpse of a log wharf during low tide or view the fort made of an oyster-shell concrete called tabby.

From Summerville you can easily reach some of the areas best historic mansions/plantatio ns located on the Ashley River, including Magnolia Plantatio n, Middleton Place, Drayton Hall, and Boone Hall. A 10-minute drive takes you to Cypress Gardens, which were originally a freshwater reserve for the nearby rice plantatio n. Visitors can enjoy the Butterfly House and the Swamparium, where large tanks feature fish, amphibians and reptiles native to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Visitors can also rent a swamp boat to paddle along a marked trail, possibly spotting alligators, birds and turtles, or take a stroll along the 3.5 miles of walking trails that loop through the swamp and gardens. These amazing gardens were used in several movies, including scenes from The Notebook, Cold Mountain and The Patriot.

The Town of Moncks Corner is a small town in Berkeley County named for its landowner, Thomas Monck, back in 1728. With old-fashioned hospitality, southern charm and history, you will want to visit the historical Train Depot, Mepkin Abbey or any of the local shops and restaurants.

We are a husband and wife team who recently became empty nesters after our youngest of five flew the nest.We understand how challenging it can be to travel with children.We spent extra care mapping out our property so it would be enjoyable for families. Parents can’t relax if they can’t contain their children….. we get that! You’ll be able to relax here!
Each unit has child safe locks on the main doors and audible alarms on fire exits.We’ve added additional child-safe fencing and locks as an extra measure so there is a safe protection barrier between your door and the pool. We’ve gotten rave reviews and feedback on various platforms from parents with small children testifying to how nice it was for the parents to be able to relax and sleep well atnight.
